The 52nd Annual Juried Art Exhibition at Valley Art Center is a celebration of artistic diversity\, a testament to the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary art. We invite all art enthusiasts to explore this fusion of visual and literary artistry. \nReturning this year is the partnership with Heights Arts\, culminating in the Ekphrastacy – Artists Talk + Poets Respond event scheduled for December 1 at 6pm. The current Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate\, Siaara Freeman\, and a cadre of accomplished poets are guiding this creative exchange of visual and spoken word artistry. \nTogether\, they will craft and recite poems directly inspired by the captivating artworks on display at the 52nd Annual Juried Art Exhibition\, weaving a harmonious tapestry of artistic expression. “Ekphrastacy at its core is an interactive art process\,” says Siaara Freeman. “It is a chance for artists to become familiar with one another’s work alongside the opportunity to explore new mediums and methods of creation.” The tradition of the Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate\, conferred by Heights Arts\, continues to thrive as the longest-running poet laureate program in the state. Ekphrastacy – Artists Talk + Poets Respond event\, as well as the Opening Reception\, are free to the public.

This year for Christmas\, we’re giving you a gift: Buddy is back! CVLT presents this encore production with many of the cast returning\, including John Kolar in the title role. \nAdapted from one of the most beloved modern Christmas movies\, “Elf the Musical” transforms the story (originally a vehicle for actor Will Farrell) into a theatrical holiday treat for the whole family. “Elf” features songs by the Tony Award nominated Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway\, The Wedding Singer) and a script by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie\, The Producers\, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone). The New York Times called it “splashy\, peppy\, sugar-sprinkled holiday entertainment!” and Variety said “ELF is happy enough for families\, savvy enough for city kids and plenty smart for adults!” \nChagrin Valley Little Theatre’s production runs weekends from November 17 through December 17\, with performances on Fridays\, Saturdays and select Sundays. Evening performances begin at 7:30 PM on Fridays Nov. 17 & 24\, Dec. 1\, 8 & 15 as well as Saturdays Nov. 25\, & Dec. 9. Matinees at 2 PM on Saturdays Nov. 18\, Dec. 2 & 16\, and Sundays Nov. 26\, Dec. 3\, 10\, & 17. Tickets are $21 with a $4 discount for students\, seniors\, and military. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an inspiring evening featuring the powerful artwork and stories of refugees\, and help mobilize an urgent local response to support their journey toward a brighter future.\nNovember 30\, 2023\n6:00 PM to 9:00 PM\nThe Family Life Center\nArt Exhibit and Documentary Film\nWe are excited to feature the Columbus Crossing Borders Project in our Gardenview Gallery. The exhibit was created to inspire critical thinking\, compassion\, and support for the millions of people who have been forced to flee their homes due to war\, climate\, violence\, and persecution. The art exhibit contains 34 refugee-themed paintings that “cross borders” and connect with one another.\nThe documentary film “Breathe Free” will also be shown during the evening. It provides a visual journey of this art exhibit alongside first-person accounts shared by refugees who have made the United States their home. Both the exhibit and film have touched the hearts of thousands while being seen in galleries\, schools\, community centers\, and theaters across the United States.\nOpen to all. This year for Christmas\, we’re giving you a gift: Buddy is back! CVLT presents this encore production with many of the cast returning\, including John Kolar in the title role. \nAdapted from one of the most beloved modern Christmas movies\, “Elf the Musical” transforms the story (originally a vehicle for actor Will Farrell) into a theatrical holiday treat for the whole family. “Elf” features songs by the Tony Award nominated Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway\, The Wedding Singer) and a script by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie\, The Producers\, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone). The New York Times called it “splashy\, peppy\, sugar-sprinkled holiday entertainment!” and Variety said “ELF is happy enough for families\, savvy enough for city kids and plenty smart for adults!” \nChagrin Valley Little Theatre’s production runs weekends from November 17 through December 17\, with performances on Fridays\, Saturdays and select Sundays. Evening performances begin at 7:30 PM on Fridays Nov. 17 & 24\, Dec. 1\, 8 & 15 as well as Saturdays Nov. 25\, & Dec. 9.
