DESCRIPTION:Valley Art Center is thrilled to announce its upcoming exhibition\, Contemporary Debris. This invitational group show will present a remarkable assortment of artwork created with recycled materials\, co-curated by Valley Art Center Assistant Director & Gallery Manager Julie Polsinelli and The Gallery at Lakeland Community College Gallery Coordinator/Exhibition Curator/Installation Designer Mary Urbas. The exhibition will showcase the extraordinary talent of Northeast Ohio artists who embody the spirit of creativity\, resourcefulness\, and environmental consciousness. \nFrom September 8 to October 18\, visitors will be immersed in an assortment of artwork crafted exclusively from recycled materials\, proving that beauty can be found in even the most unexpected places.\nArtists from all corners of the creative world have embraced the challenge of transforming discarded objects into astonishing works of art. Marvel at sculptures meticulously fashioned from scrap metal\, witness intricate collages brought to life from found objects\, and explore the many possibilities of repurposed materials that push the boundaries of artistic expression. \nAs a part of Contemporary Debris\, Valley Art Center’s façade will be adorned with a stunning recycled wall sculpture from Ron Shelton\, which will have a second life following its creation in Riverside Park in April. Ron Shelton\, a Cleveland-based artist known for his remarkable sculptures made from recycled materials\, brings his talent and passion for environmental sustainability to this project. M.A.\, will explore the fascinating concept of found and repurposed objects and their significance in modern and contemporary art\, while surrounded by the art in the gallery space.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, October 7th\, join us in the heart of the Chagrin River Valley for Head For The Hills! 2023. \nRegistration fees and all donations benefit the non-profit Moreland Hills Parks Commission.  This annual event provides the Parks Commission with its primary source of funds.  The Parks Commission’s mission is to support preservation\, improvements\, and enjoyment of our local parks for all.  Moreland Hills is home to many of the area’s most prized and pristine green spaces.  These include the beautiful 142-acre Forest Ridge Preserve and the Lang Pavilion (where this event will take place)\, sections of Cleveland Metroparks South Chagrin Reservation\, U.S. President James A. Garfield’s cabin and birth site\, and more. \nWe are proud of our scenic and competitive 5K through the valley\, now part of the Hermes Road Race Series.  But you don’t have to be a runner to enjoy this event!  Experience the trails of Forest Ridge Preserve on our family-friendly hike — take your time to enjoy these beautiful woodlands on a route that will be fun and interesting for kids of all ages! \nAll registrants for the 5K and the hike receive a special “Head For The Hills! 2023” commemorative shirt and chances for other great giveaways. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Will Craig \nAttending the Bainbridge Swing Dance is participating in an exhilarating era.  With youthful energy\, spectators\, experienced and non-experienced dancers move their feet to the best live bands in the business.  Bands that specialize in swing dance tempos\, sound\, and style.  It’s really a happening place.  An absolute “must do”. \nThis public\, family-friendly event is open to all ages and skill levels. No partner is required for the lesson or the dance.  The Bainbridge Swing Dance has an exceptionally welcoming atmosphere. Proven in its two decades of dancing with many people attending.  It’s one great time.​ \nSwing dance the night away.  A different live band performs the first Saturday of every month at Family Life Center (16349 Chillicothe Road (Route 306) in Chagrin Falls\, OH 44023). The Swing Dance\, with live band performance\, begins at 9:00 p.m. Preceded by a one hour swing dance lesson at 8:00 p.m. Doors open at 7:30pm. No pre-registration required.  Pay at the door with cash or check. \nAdmission (cash or check only\, no credit cards) \n$10 for child (12 years and under) \n$15 for adults (13 years and over) \n$40 per family (up to 2 parents and minor children in same household) \nAdmission includes the 8:00 p.m. lesson and 9:00 p.m. live band performance and dance.
